Desolate Motorsports Ford 7.3 Power Stroke Saginaw Power Steering Pump Conversion engineered specifically for 1994.5–1997 Ford 7.3L Power Stroke diesel trucks.
Built on the same proven concept as our extremely popular 5.0 / 5.8 / 7.5 Saginaw conversions, this kit delivers improved steering performance, increased reliability, and eliminates the common issues associated with the factory pump design.
Each kit includes a Desolate Motorsports designed and fabricated mounting bracket, a brand-new Saginaw-style power steering pump, billet aluminum Desolate pulley, new pressure and return hoses, and all required fittings for installation.
The Desolate Motorsports bracket is precision built from laser-cut steel, fixtured and welded for accuracy and strength, then zinc coated for long-lasting corrosion resistance and durability.
Benefits of the Saginaw Conversion include:
-
Eliminates the notorious factory power steering pump whine
-
Proven and reliable Saginaw pump design
-
Increased steering pressure for larger tires and off-road use
-
Durable metal reservoir replaces the weak factory plastic reservoir
-
Improved steering feel and overall performance
-

- Accepts factory vacuum pump
Whether your truck is a daily driver, tow rig, or dedicated off-road build, the Desolate Motorsports 7.3 Saginaw Conversion delivers the steering performance and reliability your OBS Ford deserves.
Vehicle Fitment & Steering Box Identification:
Some 1997 model year trucks were equipped with a different steering gearbox than earlier OBS Ford models. The only difference in our kit application is the adapter fittings used at the steering box, so it is important to identify which version your truck has before ordering.
You can identify your steering box by looking at the top cover of the gearbox:

-
“Normal” 2-Bolt Style:
Features 2 bolts holding the top cap down with 1 adjustment screw in the center. -
1997-Only 4-Bolt Style:
Features 4 bolts holding the top cap down along with 1 adjustment screw in the center.
Please verify your steering box style prior to ordering to ensure the correct adapter fittings are included with your kit.
Installation Notes:
Customer is responsible for supplying approximately 1 quart of power steering fluid
-
Steering gearbox must be fully evacuated of any ATF prior to installation to prevent contamination of the new system
